Invisalign® Clear Teeth Straightening in San Antonio

Straight, Beautiful Teeth Without Using Braces

Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible

For people who don’t want to wear metal braces to straighten their teeth, Invisalign’s clear aligners are an excellent alternative. Invisalign has been proven to effectively straighten a wide variety of misaligned teeth and bites.

Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear plastic aligners that fit snugly over your teeth and gradually straighten your smile. It can be used for adults and teens whose adult teeth have emerged.

For those who are candidates for the treatment, the Invisalign aligner trays eliminate the need for traditional wires and brackets. Dr. Daniela is a Preferred Invisalign Provider and is trained in orthodontics. Her training and experience in Invisalign and cosmetic dentistry allows her to provide patients with a straight and beautiful new smile.

Advantages of Invisalign

  • Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible – People see your natural smile instead of awkward-looking metal braces.
  • Invisalign aligners are easily removable – The aligners can be easily taken out at any time. They can be removed when you eat, when you need to clean your teeth or during special occasions.
  • Invisalign aligners fit comfortably – The aligners fit snugly around your teeth and there are no wires or brackets to cause irritation.
  • There are no dietary restrictions – Since there are no brackets or wires that can break or act as food traps, you can eat anything you want.
  • Invisalign aligners require fewer dental visits – With traditional braces, you need to see your dentist every two to four weeks. With Invisalign, you only need to return every six weeks.

How the Invisalign Procedure Works

During your initial exam and consultation, Dr. Daniela will determine if you are eligible for the procedure. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, she will explain in detail how it works and will answer all of your questions.

Planning your treatment

showing itero

Dr. Daniela uses the iTero 3D digital scanner for goop-free impressions.

Dr. Daniela uses the iTero® 3D digital scanner to take impressions of your teeth and will also take X-rays and photos. These are sent to the advisors at the Invisalign lab, who will work with Dr. Daniela to create a customized digital treatment plan.

When the plan is finished, she will show you a digital video display that illustrates how your teeth will move at each stage of the procedure. She will also give you an estimate of how long the entire treatment should take.

Comfortable custom aligners

Invisalign procedure

You will receive a series of aligners to wear that will gently straighten your teeth.

The Invisalign lab will make a series of customized aligners for you to wear for the duration of your treatment. The aligners are made out of a smooth, BPA-free medical grade plastic. They will fit comfortably and snugly over your teeth.

Gradually straightening your teeth

Each custom aligner is worn for about two weeks before you switch to the next one in the series. About every six weeks you will come back to our office for a check-up appointment with Dr. Daniela. She will note your progress and ensure everything is progressing properly.

Length of treatment time varies according to the severity of the alignment needed. Dr. Daniela can do an evaluation to determine the approximate treatment time. Per Invisalign, the average time to complete Invisalign treatment for an adult is about one year.

Situations Invisalign Can Correct

Invisalign treatment can correct a wide range of tooth position and bite alignment problems—from mild cases of crooked or protruding teeth to more difficult and serious conditions. Here are some of the situations Invisalign can fix:

  • Overly crowded teeth

overly-crowded-teethWhen there is too little room on your jaw ridge for your teeth to fit properly, overcrowding can occur. If left untreated, overly crowded teeth can trap food, which leads to decay and gum disease.

  • Overbite

overbite-tcIn an overbite, the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. This can cause pain in the jaw joints, wear on your lower teeth, gum irritation and chipped or fractured front teeth.

  • Underbite

underbiteIn an underbite, the lower teeth stick out in front of the upper teeth. This can prevent the normal function of your front teeth or molars and can result in tooth wear. It can also lead to jaw joint-related pain.

  • Gaps between your teeth

widely-spaced-teethThis is caused mainly by continued growth of the jawbone. It can also be caused by teeth shifting into an open space left by a missing tooth.

  • Open bite

open biteWith an “open bite”, the upper and lower teeth do not touch each other, even when the mouth is closed. This can cause speech difficulties, poor or painful chewing and problems with the jaw joint.

  • Crossbite

crossbiteinvisalign2In a crossbite, one or more of the upper teeth bite down on the inside of the lower teeth. This can happen in the front and/or the sides of the mouth, and can lead to tooth wear, gum disease and bone loss.
